Can You Tell Me Does Crime Films Are Based On True Facts?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes of course some of crime films are based on true facts. The Birdman of Alcatraz was released in 1962 starring Burt Lancaster. It is supposed to be a true story of Robert Stroud. He gave out more than 40 years in federal jails. The movie idealized its viewer about Stroud without giving them a real feel for who the man was. Criminal who had served time in Alcatraz with Stroud described him as a stool pigeon and a voracious homosexual. And also as a man with a brilliant mind. All convicts had not portrayed Stroud this way. He was also heard to be described as a "solid prisoner," who was dislike by many criminals for the reason of his reputation. The truth may be seen between these two limits.

One thing about the movie is that no two hour movie other then the birdman of Alcatraz can ever convey the incredible tedium and emotional deprivation of prison to viewer. It has made impact on its viewer like spending more than 40 years in prison. The film has a purpose beyond entertainment. The Little Caesar and Public Enemy are originally intended to show America's growing criminal underbelly. Later on the films like White Heat & Key Largo had never projected to change the world.
