I Need Help, I Don't Like Windows Vista And Want To Go Back To XP, How Do I Do That?
Can I change from Vista to XP as I don't like Window Vista?

Yes you can e advised xp is no longer on the market as of june so if you do not have a copy you are going to have a difficult time getting it . All you need to do is to reformat your hard drive and install xp. By the way one thing not everybody knows is that vista is xp with a few extra bells and whistles.

Thanks! I have a copy of xp. Maybe I just need to get used to my new laptop and vista and I'll like it.
Ok, there were two different questions, but mostly the same one, and the same mis-information...
No, Shehunter, Vista is NOT just XP with a few extra bells and whistles. The proof of that is in the fact that there are so many programs that work beautifully in XP, that won't even INSTALL in Vista, and many of the ones that will install, won't run. If Vista was just XP with a new sweater and some pretty shoes, there would not be these horrific compatibility issues...
Now as for downgrading, be VERY CAUTIOUS... If you bought your laptop with Vista installed, there's about an 80% chance that there are no XP compatible drivers for the components built into your laptop. And if you have one of those laptops that expect you to make your own backup disk, but you format the drive and install XP on it before you realize you were supposed to do so, you may not be able to restore to Vista without having to PURCHASE a new OS disk from the manufacturer...
Now if you have the restore disks (like the ones Toshiba includes with their laptops) then you can try a downgrade with impunity, and if it don't work out, you can simply restore to the settings and software it had when you bought it...
It is VERY important to have the restore disks for your laptop, BEFORE you try to downgrade to XP. Because while you may have no real problems installing XP to your laptop, you may find that you CANNOT locate the drivers you need to make everything in your laptop work. If this is the case, you will really want to be able to return to Vista, as at least it works in your laptop with full functionality, where XP may not...
If you need to make your own restore disks, there should have been some sort of utility to allow you to do so that should have come pre-installed on the laptop when you got it. If so, and you haven't gotten rid of it, clear off all programs you don't like, then use the utility to make the restore disk(s). Most likely it will only let you do it ONCE so be sure you have it just the way it needs to be before you start.
Once you've got your safety net ready, THEN feel free to play around with installing XP. And don't get discouraged if you have problems at first... Oh yeah, make sure that before you wipe the drive, that you go into your Device Manager and write down the names and all available info about the makes and models of all the components in the laptop, so you have it available when you look for drivers. Then start with the manufacturer's website under downloads, and work from there. As you install each driver, you should be able to check your Device Manager to see which devices you now have active, and which ones are still needing drivers... Oop! Almost forgot! If you have access to a wireless network while you are getting your system re-installed, make sure to get your WLAN drivers first, so you can then download all following drivers directly to your laptop.
I guess that's it for now, I hope this is of some help for you, and I wish you Good Luck! Have a great day, and don't give up! Maybe you'll succeed where I failed...
