Can Microwaves Hurt Your Eyes?

    Like so much in life, if used inappropriately microwave ovens could damage eyesight, but you would literally need to stand with the door open and have the radioactive waves beaming out at you !
    As a term 'microwaves' is used to mean microwave ovens in everyday speech, but within the medical field, microwaves are used to mean a particular type of test or even treatment, using microwaves.
    Microwaves can be used to detect breast tumours and also are used within some areas of tissue repair.  Further research into the application of microwaves is ongoing.
    The microwave oven first came into vogue during the 1980's but was treated with suspicion by many who feared that they would cause radioactive levels within the home ot become far too high.  However, they are now extremely safe to use.
    Computers , TV and video games are all much more harmful to eyesight than the standard microwave oven, when used as it was intended.
