Most countries including the USA have a 'progressive' tax system, that is, the more you make, the higher the tax bracket you will fall into. There are exceptions. Some high income people pay less tax because of some business activity with write-offs, or because some of their income is taxed at preferred capital gains rates. But generally, a higher income will mean paying more taxes.
