               RITA awards are given to people who excel in a career of writing romantic fiction. It is given by the Romance Writers of America. It is a non-profit association made for the purpose of honouring writers who make a career in romantic fiction. RITA Awards is named after the first president of this association, Rita Clay Estrada. This award is shaped in a figure similar to the Oscar figurine and is the most prominent award given to romantic writers.

               This award is given annually. Nora Roberts and Jennifer Greene are some of the writers who have received this award. Christine Feehan has also been nominated for this award.
