How Do I Troubleshoot A Battery Backup Sump Pump?

The plug to my battery backup appears to be dead. The lights "Charging" and "Charged" are out. The battery backup box has an external circuit board and it has lights on. There is power to the outlet. Is this normal or is my plug broke? Help!!!!

    It depends what kind of problem your sump pump has. A common problem is float triggers. If your pump gets caught on something, it would not be able to detect rising water level. In this case, you need to find any debris in the water and clean it. Pour water into your sump every few months to check if it is working properly. Another problem could arise if air gets into the check valves and lock them up. Make sure you get the valves fixed as soon as possible, because it might shorten the lifespan of the appliance.
