Those are all pretty good arguments, especially the last. If I were you I'd stress the last point; and also, if there is any way you could help to pay for it? (don't know how old you are, but if you could make even a small contribution at some point, that might influence your parents.)

On the other hand, if they still say no, much better to take it calmly and ask again in a few months' time.

I really do oppose kids having a cell phone before the age of 18. But I suppose if my 17 year old would say these things to me I'd probably give her one. She needs to give me very good reasons why she needs a phone.  Getting lost in the mall or need to talk to friends are really terrible reasons.  You should bring up points like its good for emergencies. Like wordy said, depending on how old you are, you should offer to pay a little. Show them that you can be responsible rather than telling them.  Help out with house chores and again depending on how old you are and what you can help out, you could always keep your room clean or the house clean.I would try to negotiate with them and show them that you can do it.Good luck!

Well you could ask for one for your birthday or work to make enough money to buy one, or ask them to get you one for Christmas and see what they say.
