Well today is the 29th of September, and the senate hasn't voted yet on the unemployment extension. I don't know why their dragging their feet on this. I guess because it's not happening to them, they really don't care about the people that are unemployed. House passed it on Sept. 22,09.I have no idea why they haven't done anything about it.
Well let's see. Average Senator makes over 200k (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Bill passed House yesterday 331 yes 83 no and a hand full of no votes. Now its suppose to go to senate except senate has a similar bill (S. 1647). I believe since senate is sooooo overworked and under paid they are off Friday. So the date they will look and vote may not be till Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I should have stuck with my major of criminal justice, became a liar... Oppss... A Lawyer, ran for office and I would be sitting in a nice plush office in D.C., making over 200k (made 1/2 that before). Nope, instead, dropped out. Got into sales, then the Mortgage business. Made good money, but when the mortgage bubble burst, my bank was bailed out but not me. Been out of work over 1 & 1/2.

I agree, it's not happening to them, so they don't care. They all have cushy jobs. One person told me, "well they have other bills they have to work on" RIGHT!
The House can pass the bill, but the Senate doesn't even have this bill S1647 up for a vote any time this month. I checked their calendar for September it's not even mentioned. So who knows when they will even look at it. Our wonderful government at work!!!

I have been on the senate web site all day and no they do not have it scheduled for this week!! I have 1 unemployment check left and thats it, next stage of poor begins. I have been able to pay my mortgage but without this, there will not be money for mortgage. I have applied at over 300 jobs. Unemployed since 3/08, this crap has got to stop. Maybe Canada isn't a bad idea after all!
The senate hasn't voted on the bill because the Democrats are trying and are debating to extend unemployment for all 50 states. Because of this, it is taking longer than they expected. I too am unemployed and have bills and have a family to feed but I must also think about the family that doesn't have anything and are in dire need just as I am. Those are the state where the unemployment rate are a little bit lower but that doesn't mean they should be excluded because we all are in a recession.
Uh, jus voted last night 97-0 it passed senate an goes back to the hs an then to obama who said he will sign it! So it will prolly b dun by the end of the week
HR 3548 was presented on the senate floor this evening, you can thank the good ole boys (Republicans) for stalling the vote, I witnessed this on CSPAN. Senate did a quorum call, however HR 3548 was put aside because all the republicans left the senate floor prior to debate on the bill (STALL). It appears HR 3548 may not return to the floor of the senate until sometime next week. While we have over 5 million American's in need of an extension, these republicans have decided to bring this back to the floor when they find another bill they can attach to this urgent issue. These republicans(DO NOTHINGS) for over 8 years have run this country into the ground, they have no ideas. They want to destroy this great country. Hello it is not about President Obama, and he is our President duly elected, it is about the American people. The republican party is imploding right before our eyes. Just let them keep talking.................

It's true the republicans haven't read over the bill yet and they want to look at it more closely and make revisions. Why have they stalled so long on reading this bill? What is the problem here? Do they have their head in the sand syndrome? They honestly don't care about all the people out of work. I would love to have them in our place and let them lose their homes, and struggle to buy food, and pay their utilties. Thank you senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, he is the one who held it up. Thanks!!

The Senate has STILL not voted on HR3548 (Senate Bill S1699) as of today, October 10th.
The are "off" for Columbus Day on Mon and back in session on Tuesday, October 13th at 10am.
HOPEFULLY, they will discuss and bring to a vote on Tues/Wed.. Or at latest, Wed/Thurs October 14/15th... Fingers crossed!!!

Current news says it is in a 'cloture' vote within the Senate this week (possibly Tuesday, Oct 27th). I have a bunch of news alerts setup on my cellphone from various sources so that I can see what is going on. Yeah, I'm in the same boat with many of you and am upset that Obama is eating $13,000 dinners and my Governor, Ed Rendell, is spending $10,000 a day on meals, too.
If you want to live well, get a government job and soak up everyone's money and resources, just like my relatives do. Everyone is at THEIR disposal, not mine. I'm sick of living on tuna and bread and worrying about my kids having a Christmas.
