My Cat Might Have Periodontal Disease, What Should I Do?
I've heard that you need to brush your cat's teeth so it doesn't get periodontal disease but my cat is 5 yeas old and she never had her teeth brushed until now. I checked her teeth and I saw her teeth gums were red surrounding the teeth and she has bad breath. I can't take her to a vet but don't ask me why, so is it safe for me to brush her teeth and if I start to brush her teeth will the disease go away? I use four paws pet dental with fluoride toothpaste, please help me!

thank you for the info but now I'm hopeless, i said i couldn't take her to a vet because she doesn't even have a vet and I'm kinda in debt already so i cant really afford the expensive vet bills, don't take me wrong i love love love my cat soooooo much and i don't want anything to happen to her. what am i gonna do?! =`(
