Quimper is one of the communes of Brittany (it lies in the south western part) located in the north western part of France. It is situated in the valley which is the meeting point of the Jet, the Steir and the Odet rivers. Ironically, the place also gets its name due to this (In Breton the word 'kemper' means 'confluence'). Presently, it is the capital of the Département of Finistere and previously used to be the capital of La Cornouaille. This used to be one of the most traditional regions in Brittany. It lies about 303 miles to the west-southwest of the French capital of Paris. According to the last census its population was said to be close to 67127.
