What Is A Simple Basic Way To Cook An Artichoke Without Any Extras Or Garnishes? Steam? Bake?

Answer Question

Steam it. I don't know for how long, but steam it and then dip the leaves in melted butter before you eat them. Also, the leaves get smaller and more tender towards the center. You'll hit a part that's really spiky and painful to hold, but carefully peel away the spikes and you get the artichoke heart, which is the best part.

How exactly would you steam it with regular pots or pans? Would you place a small rack inside a shallow pan of water with a lid? Call me culinary illiterate, but I have never steamed anything yet I ate fresh cooked artichoke once, and I would LOVE to cook it for myself and my husband.
