Where Are Owls Most Commonly Seen?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are no specific areas for owls and other than Antarctica, they are found in all over the world. They are nocturnal birds and subsist on prey. Small mammals, other birds and insects are their prime source of food, but some owls hunt for fish also. They tear their prey into pieces with the help of their clawed feet and then feast on it.

Their style of catching prey is distinct and with the help of dull feathers and muffled wings they are able to fly without making any noise. The silence gives not even a fraction of a second for the prey to run away and it becomes the prey of the owl.

Though most of the owls are nocturnal, some species of owls are crepuscular also and they hunt for their prey mostly during dusks. Some owls, such as Burrowing Owl are active even during the day.
