How To Make A Video Game?

Hmmm... I'm afraid I have some bad news for you, eastwarren.
You see, while professional game studios do use their computers to create the games you play on your game system, they can only do it using a system emulator installed, specifically made for game designers to use, and they have to get them from the system manufacturers. This means that if they want to make a game for the PS3, for example, they'd have to contact Sony, pitch the game they want to make (since Sony retains all veto rights if they feel that a game concept does not fit with what the corporate values they have decided are acceptable on their platform, for example, you will NEVER see a truly Adult Only [AO] rated game on a Playstation, they just don't think it's good for the corporate image), then if it gets approved, I believe they have to pay Sony for the 'DevKit'(Developer's Kit), that's the software they need to have to code for that platform, THEN they can get started.
The process of creating a game to play on a console system, is complicated, time-consuming, and generally expensive.
However, there are exceptions. Especially in the last couple of years, there have been games that were made by very small studios (some as few and one or two people), that became very popular online, and were later released for various console systems (Alien Homonid is one)... But coding specifically for a console, as opposed to coding for computers and having the game ported... Pretty remote chance without some serious money.
