How Much Is Water Rates?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Water rates in UK usually differ depending on the Water Company and area. The amount of money paid by us for water supply is usually managed and set by Ofwat.

After a period of every five year new charges for water supply are suggested by the water companies, these charges are analysed by Ofwat who decide on a price which is appropriate for both the water companies as well as the customers. During the last review water companies proposed an increase of 29%, which was rejected and only a hike of 18% was granted for the next 5 years.

Water rates are usually hiked, primarily to cover the cost of new water pipes which are installed.  If you have a water meter installed, you only have to pay for units of water which are consumed by you.
