In Golf What Is An Albatross?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

An albatross is when someone shoots a score of three under par. For instance if it was a par 5 then that player would have got a 2. This is a very good score that is very rare and unlikely to happen even for professionals so if you are one of these lucky rare players to get one you should be very pleased because the chances of it happening are very unlikely. An albatross wouldn't be a brilliant score to have on your scorecard and is a great help to having a brilliant round.

An albatross is 3 under par. These are very rare because on a par three you cannot hit an albatross. On a par 4 if you hit an albatross it is actually a hole in 1. You can hit an albatross on a par 5, but you have to make it in the hole in 2 shots.

An albatross is 3 under par on a hole.  For example, getting the ball in the hole on a par 5 in 2 or getting a hole in one on a par 4.
