The current line up of 'The Accused' features Tommy Niemeyer on guitars, Brad Mowen on vocals, Professor Iman A. Phid on bass, and Mike Peterson on drums. Guitarist Tommy Niemeyer, is the only surviving original member. The original lineup consisted of John Dalin on vocals, Dana Collins on drums, and Chibbon Batterman on drums. Blaine Cook took over from John Dalin in 1984.
The Accused is a hardcore punk band that was formed in Oak Harbor, Washington, in 1981.

At the time of their first release the band was playing straight ahead hardcore, but they made a distinct shift in their musical direction. The Accused, with their roots in hardcore, presaged the rise of Seattle's grunge scene, but they never really fitted into the movement.

With the exception of Dahlin, the other members had an appetite for metal and Dahlin was pushed out of the band in 1984, being replaced by ex-Fartz vocalist Blaine Cook. Fusing hardcore punk with heavy metal to spawn a furiously thrashing hybrid gave them an edge, creating an appeal among fans of both punk and metal.
