Stained glass craft is an art that requires a substantial period of time to master and as such guidance of a good teacher is necessary without which the designing and crafting techniques which are the base of this art remain substandard.
Various studios with online sites offer classes for people interested in the art as a hobby; in these classes one learns all the intricacies involved in the process along with the different types of stained glass like copper foil stained glass which is safer to craft as compared to lead stained glass which involves working with lead a potentially hazardous substance.
But when it comes to actually doing the thing one would do better to try the things on one's own only under supervision to avoid any difficulties later on performing some of the tasks like the cutting and soldering part; a number of books and CD's are also available on the subject.

Enquire at your local higher education or arts school. It may be that courses are offered in stained glass work. Wherever you see an exhibition, ask them too. Look for stained glass renovations, especially in churches, and those carrying out the work will be able to tell you where they learned the craft.
