What Is The Difference Between Microdermabrasion And Dermabrasion?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The main difference between dermabrasion and microdermabrasion is the fact that microdermabrasion is lighter than and not as deep as dermabrasion. This means that it is ideal for smaller problems and dermabrasion is better for problems such as scars and wrinkles.
Microdermabrasion involves the use of Aluminium Oxide crystals which are propelled towards the skin and they are instantly soaked into it. Many people who have used the method say it has left their skin feeling softer and smoother and it has been used to treat mild acne problems. It is virtually painless and you do not really need to take any recovery time off from work or anything else.
Dermabrasion on the other hand involves the removal of the skins layers and it can often irritate the sufferer quite a lot afterwards, meaning that some recovery time does usually need to be taken. Overall dermabrasion is better for bigger problems and microdermabrasion is better for minor skin problems.
