How Can I Copyright My Software?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is always a good idea to copyright your software. It is not a very difficult thing to do if you know how.  The easiest and most basic way to do this is to simply put a notice in the documentation and in the code. This particular banner should ideally appear at the opening screen of all the programs in operation at any given time. It should also appear in the 'About' menu option of all the Windows ™ platform programs for good measure.

The format for the copyright is as follows:
(Program title) followed by Copyright, followed by the Year and your name.
    All rights reserved.

The All Rights Reserved basically means that the owner or author of the software is retaining all the rights to the software, as well as all the rights to its disposition and use, even if they are not covered in the official documentation.
