    Yes lightening  does strike the sea and the ocean water in fact the oceans are considered to be the second most dangerous place as far as the striking of the lightening is concerned. When it strikes the sea water it does kill the marine life near the surface as it spreads over the conducting surface and also penetrates the water. For further details please click on this link.
