Do You Consider The Morning-After Pill To Be Abortion?

IN YOUR OWN PERSONAL OPINION (no Wikipedia or Google), what do you think? This has been an on-going debate for a really long time. I'm still not sure how I feel about the issue. ***Also, please state if you are pro-life or pro-choice, as that could lead a hand in your answer.*** Thanks!

Well i am pro life to be honest... But i do not see the morning after pill as abortion because sperm can live in the fallopian tube for five days meaning it takes a while for the sperm to fertilize the egg and actually proceed into the process of becoming pregnant... If taken the morning after it helps prevent implantation same as birth control would if a woman were to produce an egg while on it... I'm not saying I have all the facts that is just an off the top of my head answer...

I thought the morning after pill was to prevent pregnancy right? And if so I don't believe this is a problem to prevent one from getting pregnant because I rather they took the morning after then to have a baby and the child don't have both parents because of one night stand. So correct me if I am wrong about the answer to this pill.but people that are not married should not have sex either way

I am pro-life, but I do not really consider the morning after pill to be abortion.  It should be used before the embryo is implanted.  And should only be used in case of rape.  That  is why all rape victims should get help immediately.
But using it just because you "accidently" forgot birth control/condoms etc is no reason.  It should be reserved only for the rape victim.
Anytime a couple chooses to have sex (an activity known to cause pregnancy)  they already made their "pro-choice" decision.

Well, again, sex is known to cause pregnancy, so anytime a couple so engages, the chance of pregnangy exists even with any form of birth control. That is one reason GOD intende sex to be for married couples only.

I understand the meaning of your question.....but, taking the word for its Literal meaning---it is
"Abortion".....To "Abort" something, is to "Do Away" with something........just a thought!

I am neither pro-life nor pro-choice 100%. I feel that abortion for the purpose of birth control is definitely wrong, but there are certain conditions where abortion should be allowed. Including, conception as a result of Rape or Incest, a pregnancy where the mother's life is in danger, and where its KNOWN without any doubts that the baby is so severely deformed that it would never have any quality of life. Let that soul go back to heaven to be born in a healthy body. As for the morning after pill.. It wont abort an already existing pregnancy, but it will prevent conception... The same as the daily oral contraceptives. It is a form of contraceptive, not an abortion pill. I agree with Marty-Viv... It should only be used for rape or incest victims.

Agreeing with Ryanna's response, i will also say that the morning-after pill is a form of birth control. What it does is makes it convenient for the user to perpetuate the growing social acceptance that sex outside of marriage (fornication) and adultery are not sins. I think Mati's got a great idea that it should be used in cases of rape and incest. It would be a noninvasive way of handling it before it becomes a life. Great question.

I'm also a big believer in no sex before marriage, although I haven't officially taken any vows yet. I have it in my mind that I will wait, and so far I have. (Not just for moral reasons...there's also no one decent to do it with, lol.) Being a Christian in today's society is so hard. I mean, if you even MENTION the idea of staying pure until marriage, your rep is ruined. I mean, absolutely demolished. Everyone laughs at you, and thinks you're a loser, and spreads rumors, and...ugggh!!! (>_<)

I am pro-life, and I think that the very moment of conception is when it is a human life with a soul.

I am pro-choice and my view on the morning after pill is this: The morning-after pill is not abortifacient because it only prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation, hence no conception.  I hope this helps darlin'.

Well technically you can use it to abort a baby, when its really small still. I took the morning after pill once and I had a miscarriage. And I know some girls who have taken 2 or more to abort a baby. But I don't consider it an abortion pill. Plus its better to get rid of it when its not really a baby than to wait until its actually forming into one.

No. But I do think that many take it as an afterthought. Though morally it should only be available to women under dire circumstances, it just can't be regulated. It has been affectionately named the "Ooops" pill. That just seems a very sad way to state our stand in moral standards.

Well he u go, i disagree with u all except cyndi. Morning after pill and birth control pills are all forms of potential abortion because if there is a baby formed, it will get rid of it. That is abortion. I am prolife obviously.
