The best way to answer this question is if you were to give some symptoms of what your goldfish is doing. Does it eat normally, swim upside down, has lost color or scales? Regardless, whenever there is any concern that something is wrong, do a partial water change of at least 25% of the water. It may make a difference for your fish until you can find out what is wrong.
