Domesticated cats are descendents of wild cats. It has been estimated that around 5000 years back, wild cats had been domesticated for the first time. History witnessed that nearly 4000 years before, Egyptians kept cat as a pet animal. They even worshipped cat as a god. If a domestic cat died, they shaved their eyebrows during mourning. If a temple cat died, the whole capital expressed their grief and performed rituals. Killer of a cat received death sentence there.
The nearly opposite views had been observed in ancient Europe. Their cats were considered as the representative of devil, not the god, especially the black cat. In various images, the devils are portrayed in the shape of a black cat.
Domestic cats are usually subcategorised into two patterns – the short-haired and the long haired. The Angora and the Persian are appreciated for their excellence of beauty. They belong to the long-haired category.
