    An insulator is a material or device that prevents or reduces the passage of heat, electricity, or sound.
    A material that is highly resistant to the flow of electricity. Ceramics and polymers are excellent electrical insulators.
    Another way we also say "A material that does not easily transmit energy", such as electric current or heat. Materials such as wood, plastic, and ceramics are insulators. Fiberglass is an example of a heat insulator.
    It basically keeps things hot or cold for a long period of time.
