Does Ian Botham Have A Nickname?

Ian Botham's nickname is 'beefy'. His reputation was as a big hitting batsman and he had the physique to match, hence his nickname. Botham's sporting career started with a choice between cricket and football. With a place on offer at Crystal Palace Football Club Botham opted to fulfil his dream and play cricket for Somerset instead. He later played briefly for Scunthorpe United while recovering from an injury. After retiring from cricket he became a successful television commentator and charity fundraiser.  He has raised over £5 million for charities including most notably Leukaemia Research. In 1992 he was awarded an O.B.E for services to cricket and to charity.
