When Was Chester City Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Chester City Football Club was founded in 1885 when the local teams of Chester Rovers and Old King Scholars, joined forces to become a united team known as Chester Football Club.

In the club's early years, Chester City was part of the Lancashire Combination League and the Cheshire County League. It was eventually accepted into the Football League in 1931 where it joined the Third Division North and then the Fourth Division. They were relegated out of the Football League into the Conference in 2000, but only remained there for four seasons before being crowned winners of the Conference which gained them promotion back into League Two where they currently play in.
In the 2005/06 season they finished in 15th place in the table.

Chester City have played their home games at the ground of the Saunders Honda Stadium since 1992. It has a capacity for over 6,000 spectators, but interestingly the ground is located on the border of England and Wales.
