What Did Native Americans Hope To Gain In Return For Agreeing To Give Up Some Land?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Always it was peace. They hoped to stave the white man off of all the land, and they were willing to trade off a few pieces in order to make them happy and with a hope that they would stay on the land they agreed upon. The Native American wanted to live, cultivate, hunt, and live as they always had, in their traditional lands. There were Native Americans that sold the land that other tribes lived on. The white man did not know who was who, and took the land by any means possible.
