How Do I Remove Candle Wax From Cotton Fabric And Wood?

My husband pulled a tall lit candle on the mantle toward him to blow it out. The melted wax splattered on his shirt and on the rough-hewn wooden mantle. I don't know where to start to remove the wax. I have not rubbed or scraped the wax on either surface. What's the best way to remove the wax from the shirt and from the wooden board?

For the shirt, Heloise says to put it in the freezer.......after at least 24 hours, remove and you could try to carefully scrape the wax off with the dull edge of a butter knife...for the wood, you could try to hold a hair dryer, but not on the highest heat, for a few minutes to soften it, then carefully pull it off........good luck!!!!!
