Yes, in Scotland and in many places in england and the us people play the bagpipes for money. Not all bagpipe music sounds like a dead cow, some of it is actually good.

People not just in Scotland and England play them for a living. I play in a pipe Band in Nova Scotia and most of the senior members play them for a living. And by the way I think the bagpipes are awesome and never sound like a cow. You obviously have never heard a good bagpiper before.
