The Ukrainian, Leonid Stadnyk, is probably the tallest living man at 8' 6", but he's not very well known. He doesn't enjoy the notoriety and has refused to be measured per Guinness Book requirements. He was on a show on Discovery channel, and prefers to lead a simple life.
Right now, the official Guinness record holder for the tallest living man is Bao Xishun in China.
