Food has basic importance in our life. Man has revolutionized the agriculture by research in biological field. The section of better seeds has led to better yield and better quality of food crops and fruit plants. The yield of wheat, sugarcane, rice and cotton has been enormously increased bringing healthy effect and prosperity. Health is a basic necessity of life. Life has been made comfortable and secure due to the biological researches leading to the discovery of new antibiotics for many infectious diseases like plague, cholera, pneumonia, tuberculosis and typhoid. AIDS is also now being treated to some extent by a medicine called AZT. Similarly many drugs are being used now for cancer treatment.

Genetic engineering and biotechnology have made it possible to manipulate hereditary traits and produce new species. During the exploration of space, presence of life on other planets has also been probed into. It is through biological research that we are trying to find out the way to over come and eventually eliminate the pollution.
