In the year of 2004, a business man from the state of Florida, United States of America named Jody Gorran filed a lawsuit against the Atkins Nutritionals Inc., because he believed that after following this diet, he developed a heart related disease. He also had to go through angioplasty because of the whole thing. Jody Gorran demanded compensatory damages and a part of the estate of Robert Coleman Atkins, the inventor of the Atkins Diet. After two and a half years of hearing, the court came to a decision that none of the nutritional products of the Atkins Diet were harmful and do not cause any kind of a danger to anybody.
It was later discovered that Jody Gorran had a family history of heart disease and it was not caused by the Atkins diet.
