How Do I Take Two Separate Switches And Wire Them To One Double Switch?

I live in a 1988 trailer. I am trying to take two separate light switches and combine them on to one double switch. The outlets that are in the trailer are the box, switch, and face plate all in one. The double switch that I have bought has two gold screws on each side (total of 4) and one silver screw on the end. The switches that are currently in the trailer do not have screws. Things just wrap around inside and look like they are clamped.

What you have is a double pole switch.

The double pole switch also has "on" and "off" markings and functions similar to a single pole switch in that it turns something on and off from one location. However, because it has four brass terminals instead of two terminals it can handle switching two hot wires which allows it to switch a 240 volt circuit. The switch will also come with a ground terminal (green screw).
So bottom line, double pole switches are typically used to switch receptacles and appliances using 240 volt circuits.
It should however be possible for you to use the switch if you connect only one power conductor to the switch and the two conductors to the light fixtures. Your power for the lights maybe on the same circuit which would be best in this situation.
What ever you do - make sure the circuit breaker it turned off before you begin, and check to make sure even after the breaker is off before you start.
