I found a snake and it has a hole towards the tail and the hole is huge?

Female garter snakes get to sexual maturity around two years old. They have an average two and half month gestation period.

My husband and I just witnessed the live birth of 3 baby garter snakes 3/9/08. The female was on a shallow bed of leaves, one baby was next to her and the other 2 were partially born. One was 3/4 of the way out of the birth canal while the other was only half way out. Wow, what a sight. We were really lucky.
