Yes there is a museum in Bangor which was formerly known as The Bangor Historical Society. In 2002 this society became the Bangor museum and center of history. Bangor Historical Society was founded in 1864. A group of 22 men made a team with Judge John Godfrey as the leader, to do this. These people were keen on collecting and preserving local historical artifacts for the general public. In 2002 , the society made these collections available for common masses to see and appreciate.
More than 10,000 photographic prints, daguerreotypes, tintypes, glass plate negatives, carte-de-visites and postcards can be found in the museum collections. These mostly reflect the local and regional history. The photographs date back to mid 19th century till present day. Photographs include many Bangor buildings from the 1930s.  A large Quipus collection of historic clothing exceeding 800 garments, hats, handbags and shoes can be found at the museum. These were donated to the museum by the ladies of the Quipus Club.
Besides these the museum also houses a great collection of Civil War artifacts. These were given by the Grand Army of the Republic.  Many Bangor families have also donated civil was artifacts to the museum. Some of these include an apothecary chest, a sword of Joshua Chamberlain's, swords belonging to Daniel Chaplain, and several letters written by soldiers.
