What Are The Reasons, Other Than Real Damage To The Premisis, Can A Landlord Deduct Money From The Security Deposit? I Fell And Have Doctor Documentation And Xrays To Indicate The Inability To Clean A Ceiling From The Fan Being Turned To The Up Position Since I Moved In. It Was Detected By A Worker, Who Reversed The Fan And Consequently The Popcorn Ceiling Collected Some Dirt. Should The Landlord Dduct Money? It's Only Removable Dirt.

In most jurisdictions, the test is: what would a reasonable person say?
Would a reasonable person say that the landlord can deduct the cost of
having the ceiling cleaned? Would a reasonable person say that the renter is responsible for the property, even if the fan was reversed by a worker?
Would a reasonable person say that not having the ceiling cleaned would make it more difficult to rent the property?
