Why Are Cream Crackers Called Cream Crackers?

I would just like to know

Answer Question

This is a tricky one.  The ingredients for cream crackers (from Jacobs) make no mention of cream; all they contain is flour, vegetable oil, salt, sodium bicarbonate) and yeast.

The official response from Jacobs is:
"The name Cream Crackers refers to the method in which the mixture is creamed during manufacture."

So there you have it, the ingredients are creamed in a special way!
