My Mini Daschund Has A Yeast Infection . How Do I Get Rid Of It Without Taking Her To The Vet?
My mini daschund has a yeast infection not in the ears but the other place. How do I get rid of it without taking her to the vet? I need free advice. She is 13 years old and she has not been spayed. She does have cancer lumps and a vaginal gooey white discharge. The lumps don't seem to be bothering her but she is always licking herself.

(Sorry for the delay, I got called away)
Ok... what she has is called vaginitis, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any unusual symptoms that might help to shed light on the cause. There are many different causes (urinary tract infections; vaginal infections (bacterial, viral), vaginal tumors, and vaginal trauma...etc.), and at this point without the benefit of lab cultures it's near to impossible to determine the cause... even with a diagnosis it can be very hard to cure if the immune system is already compromised (i.e. cancer). It's most commonly treated with systemic antibiotics, local vaginal infusions... but for that you're going to have to see a vet.
It it is a yeast infection, feeding her live culture yogurt daily can help... and some studies have shown that applying the yogurt directly to the vulva helps as well... she'll end up licking it off... so several times a day, you'd need to apply (massage it in and around the vulva ) about a tsp. of the yogurt (plain, with live cultures) several times a day, and try to prevent her from licking it for a little while.
If it's bacterial (which I believe it probably is) than I don't know of any homeopathic remedies... but I'll look around and see if there's anything else I can come up with.
