How Many Plays Did Shakespeare Write In A Year?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

He wrote 37 plays we know of. 3 are lost. Sir Thomas More, Cardenio and Love's Labour's Won. If he started writing in about 1588, and stopped in about 1612, then his output is something like one and two thirds per year!. Yet, it is better than that. Especially 1599, when he wrote Julius Caesar, Henry V, As You Like It and Hamlet. Then there are his collaborations. Many playwrights are not recorded in the writing of works, simply because it wasn't done! If YOU started to write something, got bogged down in it, and asked for help, it doesn't matter how many others dragged you out of it, YOUR name went on the playsheet!
