How Do You Define "Faith"?

What does faith mean to you? And do only Christians or spiritual people possess it?

I think everyone has to rely on faith at some point in their life. When we as believers talk of faith we are entrusting in the bible as a directorate which will lead us to christ. But i think faith is necessary in everyday life. We need to have faith in our doctors when we place our selves in their hands. As a catholic, i have faith in my priest as a doctor of the soul. He will hear my sins in confession and he will prescribe a course of prayer and action to help me atone. Just like the doctor of medicine, i can listen to him and have faith in his judgement and take my medicine. Or on the otherhand , i could choose to ignore it and not take the prescription. So faith for me is the ability to rely on the wisdom of a stranger who has proved himself by his credentials. :)

Everyone has some sort of faith even if it is just believing things will be alright. To me having faith is believing in something you can't see, and you can't touch. That feeling that something greater is out there beyond grasp and beyond science. So picture yourself blind and deaf and completely lost as to how to do things... Then you have faith you will make it and courage to go on with or without someone showing you how to do everyday things again.

Something one believes in, it does not have to pretain to religious,it can be something pretaining to family,no one can change your mind, it can be a rite, what you have been taught what takes place in your environment. It is just what you believe in and it works for you and you don't wish to change or try something else....it is a lot of things rolled into one trust etc.

In Hebrews Chapter 11 says that NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR,THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.Faith is your belief in someone.Even though I was not here when Jesus was and all that I read about him in the Bible I believe. His crucifixion when he died on the cross and that he rose again on the 3rd day I believe it.And know christians are not the only ones to possess faith there where people in the Bible that was not Christians Or Spiritual people that has faith just I do.Without faith you can live.what I mean by that it takes faith in many things.Just like for example when you set down in your chair you believe that chair will hold you up so you sit down right? So you have a measure of faith.japeace
