How Do I Help My First Grader With Counting Money?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Get 100 pennies, 25 nickels, 10 dimes 4 quarters and a dollar bill. Start with the pennies. Show  how many pennies in a nickel, then a dime then quarter and a dollar. Go back to the nickels and explain how many make up a dime and so on.  Then explain how to count by 5's 10' and he/she should pick it up. Todays school system wants kids to learn algebra in 4th anf 5th grade but they still don't know how to make change for a dollar. So sad.
