    According to the terminology used by NASA, a space shuttle is the vehicle that is used for transportation of humans as well as cargo into space. Officially, the name given to it is “Space Transportation System”. The space shuttle has various parts including a tank, boosters and an orbiter. This is the specific definition provided by NASA but all space shuttles are similar, these vehicles have a spacecraft with wings (orbiter) that ensures its safe and smooth landing on reentry into earth’s atmosphere. Another distinguishing factor of a space shuttle is that it is reusable and can be used for repeated travels.
