    1998 Escort SE 2.0L OHC; Why Won't The Crankshaft Turn To Align After Removing Timing Belt. Can You Help?

    Car made loud noise and lost power on acceleration, then quit running. Started again briefly to move out of road. Would not start again. Can't turn crankshaft pulley to align top and bottom pulleys.

    Sounds like the valves have come into contact with the top of the piston(s). Does the crankshaft rotate in the opposite direction?
