I Want My Son To Do Well In His Exams, How Can I Help?

Answer Question

First of all, parental pressure is one of the top reasons why children do badly in exams, the expectation created creates such pressure and stress that the child is being prepared to fail.  Of course, you can help, but it has to be sensitively with the sense that you will love the child just as much regardless of the outcome.

Whatever strategy you put in place, try to include fun and rest in equal measure with exam studies.  For a start, for every seventy minutes of studies, he should have a ten to fifteen minute break, that's for optimum concentration levels.  Make sure he gets good food, lots of fish and leafy greens, and lots of water, at least a pint when he first wakes up and about 2 litres throughout the day.

If your son would like help with his exam preparation, sit with him and make an exam preparation timetable, go from there.

A study area with adequate lighting should be available. It's also helpful for it to have temperate temperature.
The child should have his eyes examined yearly to assure he does not become frustrated or exhausted by trying to see when vision aids would be recommended.

These are in addition to epictetus' recommendations.
