Reading school was built in the year 1125, making it the tenth oldest school in England. Specially designed by Alfred Waterhouse, it is a part of the Victorian buildings that is situated in the Erleigh Road. 37 state primary schools and 6 state primary schools also form a part of the borough, and they together form the total number of private schools at Reading.

In the year 1904 the University of Reading was shifted to its London Road Campus, it was established in the year 1892 as an associate of the Oxford University.
In the year 1962, Reading then moved a step ahead as it was known and rated as an independent university.

The Bulmershe Court Campus happen to be a part of the Reading University, because in the year 1982, Reading took over its teacher training college that was formerly a part of Bulmershe.
