What's The Best Way To Sell Vintage Comic Books?

I have several boxes of vintage comic books that I want to sell (need the cash, single mom) Does anybody know of a comic book store in western WA that they could recommend I take them to? I don't have the time to do the E-Bay thing. Thanks!

I would just pick up the yellow pages for your area and look in there. You need to have them looked at by more than one dealer, because some of them might try to take advantage of you. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

What about listing them on craigslist or go to http://comispriceguide.com  You might be able to find the value of them there.

But make sure you have an idea of their worth.

Get them appraised first so no one takes advantage of you and then put them on craigslist.com, and put an add in the local paper. Local comic book stores might buy them, but you would probably get more out of them on ebay than anywhere else.

Thanks Ryanna. I've tried craigslist for other stuff I want OUT OF THE HOUSE post divorce, but since I live in a tiny town I didn't have any luck. Any idea what an appraisal would cost (very broke!)

I have 4 boxes of vintage comic books, going back to the 50's.  I grouped them by publisher (like Harvey, Archie, Gold Key, TV series), and then went to the Library and got a copy of the Overstreet Comic Book Guide, by Robert M Overstreet.  This book is updated every couple of years.  You might want to take a couple of evenings or days to check the groupings, then find the number of each comic book and what it's worth today.  Out of 455 comic books, mine are worth way over $1600 now.  I haven't yet found a buyer for them (they will all offer a lesser price than their actual worth), but am still looking out here in the mid-west.  If you can find a bookstore in your area that also deals with out-of-date books, usually they will direct you to any known buyers, both of books and comics, if they're able to do so.  Sure hope you have good luck in selling!

Thanks Moe! That gives me a good project for the next time the kids are at their dads for a visit. This is a great answer.

I think (not sure I have never tried) that EBAY might get you more money if these comics are in excellent condition. I would go to a comic book store and get an estimate on their worth then put them on Ebay. Although having gone to the trouble of going to a store you might as well sell them and save yourself the pain of the internet.

Go to Ebay and look around to see other comics, then you will be prepared, with their approximate value, when you take them to a comic book store.
