Tony Hillerman is an award-winning American author. He writes detective novels but also is the author of many non-fiction books as well. All his mystery and detective novels are based in the Four Corners area of New Mexico and Arizona. The names of his protagonists in many novels are Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. Tony Hillerman apart from being an author is also a war veteran of World War II. He served as a mortarman in the 104th Infantry Division.
Later he also had a brief career as a journalist. He was voted as the 25th richest man of New Mexico in 1996. The Blessing Way was the title of his first novel which was released way back in 1970. His writings are noted for his details on various American tribes. He has received several awards for his writing and his work on the tribes. Thus he is a man of multiple talents.
