The modern Olympic games first took place at Athens 1896 after the Olympic games movement was founded by Baron Pierre De Coubitin, but the real father of the Olympics could be said to be Dr William Penny Brookes who founded the Olympian games in Much Wenlock in 1850 and it still continues to this day and is called The Wenlock Olympian Society Games.
