Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Fat Albert was the main character in an animated series that was created by, hosted by, and produced by Bill Cosby back in the 1970s. Many of the early Fat Albert cartoons were written based on the actual life experiences of Bill Cosby.

The Fat Albert cartoons are considered to be the first cartoons to feature African American characters and one of the first cartoons that addressed different social issues such as peer pressure, school, morals, values, and ethics. The cartoon first appeared in 1972 and was aired until 1982. Many television stations continued to show its reruns after 1982.

In the early 1990s, talks began about creating a motion picture based on the famous cartoon. However, there were a lot of problems. Nevertheless, the movie was finally created and released in 2003. The movie starred Kenan Thomason in the primary role of Fat Albert.

To this day, Fat Albert cartoons and movie continue to teach about social issues and how to deal with them.
