Writing is a bit like singing. Anyone can sing but can anyone sing well? The answer to that question is up for debate. There are numerous talent competition shows on television these days in which people with no prior experience learn an art like ballroom dancing, singing or ice-skating. Writing is an art just like these subjects, but perhaps does not have the glitzy showbiz appeal so shows aren't made about it! As the television shows demonstrate, many people with no prior experience can learn an art form with good and consistent training. Perhaps the same rule applies to writing. The purpose of any art form is self expression. Therefore, there is no right or wrong way to do it. If you are expressing something of yourself in your writing, you are in touch with the main aim of the art form. In this sense, anyone can write. It is a great way to get to know what's going on inside yourself.

Writing is an extremely enjoyable career and whilst anyone has the potential to be a writer, it can be difficult, and you do have to have a good imagination. Some people may think that thinking up stories is easy, but it isn't. When you sit down to write a novel, you have to think carefully about characters and the plot, and it is difficult to wind all the plot together and make sure that events, names, places and other parts of the story are consistent.
Writing is something that is either there in a person, or it isn't. Many writers begin at an early age, and all of them read. If someone doesn't read, then they won't be able to write. Writers gain their inspiration from other books and their surroundings and experiences and if you don't read, then you will now have any knowledge of how other authors structure their stories or gain any inspiration.

Definitely anyone can be a writer provided he continuously check his 'SWOT'- Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Talents. You should know the field where you are strong (in literature) and should not touch the areas which you can't handle and besides writing you should provide yourself another alternative. The last most important thing is you should have the 'Creativity' which makes your writing unique among your contemporaries.
